Guide To Buying
A Log Home

Exterior Options

You’ve already decided on which log style you like, now it’s time to consider which log profile you like best. Golden Eagle Log Homes has many different size and shape logs that will affect not only the appearance of your log home, but also the price. Your salesperson can guide you through that process.

You may have a concern about the stain and exterior maintenance of your new log home. Because we hear this objection so often, Golden Eagle Log Homes has researched, tested and recommends Sikkens Cetol 1 and Cetol 23. Golden Eagle has a "stain testing board " located at the log home company site, where we have tested various brands of stain and exposed them to the elements, for a number of years. You can judge for yourself which ones have stood the test of time. The only stain we have tested and found to last is Sikkens Cetol and Cetol 23. The Sikkens brand uses a three-step approach to their stain. You may never have to stain again. You may have to reseal from time to time, but we have reports of the sealer lasting from 9-12 years.

Golden Eagle Log Homes is the only log home company that uses maintenance free, forest green, brown, or red soffit and fascia. The fascia is the most weather abused part of the log home, so this is what is recommended. Also, the windows have a maintenance free exterior and are offered in colors that will match the soffit and fascia.
